Ammunition Shipping Restrictions

We Support Your 2A Rights—But Some States Don’t Make It Easy

At [Your Store Name], we believe in every American’s constitutional right to keep and bear arms. That includes having access to ammunition without unnecessary barriers. Unfortunately, several states have enacted laws that restrict or outright prohibit the direct shipment of ammunition to residents.

We want to ship to you. But we’re required to follow state and local laws—even the ones we disagree with.

States With Ammunition Delivery Restrictions

Alaska

Due to Alaska’s unique geography and reliance on air freight, most retailers cannot ship ammunition directly to consumers. Orders typically require freight forwarding services, which prevent standard home delivery.

California

California law prohibits online ammunition purchases with direct home delivery. All ammunition must be shipped to a licensed vendor, where you’ll undergo a background check before taking possession.

Connecticut

A state permit is required to purchase ammunition. Online retailers will not ship directly to Connecticut residents.

Hawaii

Like Alaska, shipping ammunition to Hawaii requires special freight arrangements. Most vendors will not deliver to the state due to these logistical restrictions.

Illinois

A valid Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card is required to purchase ammunition. Online sellers typically require a copy of your FOID card. Note: Direct shipment to Chicago is prohibited.

Massachusetts

Direct delivery of ammunition is not allowed. You must possess a valid firearms license, and all transactions must occur at a licensed dealer.

New Jersey

Residents must have a valid Firearms Purchaser ID card to buy ammunition. While some vendors may ship to a home address with proof of ID, shipment to a licensed dealer is often preferred or required.

New York

Ammunition cannot be delivered directly to your home. It must be shipped to a licensed dealer, who will conduct a background check before release.

Washington D.C.

The District of Columbia prohibits direct ammunition delivery under some of the nation’s strictest gun control laws.

What You Can Do

Don’t let unconstitutional restrictions go unchallenged. Here’s how you can take action:

  • Contact Your Representatives: Let your state legislators know that ammunition restrictions harm law-abiding citizens and infringe on constitutional rights.
  • Support 2A Organizations: Join groups fighting to roll back these restrictions at the state and federal level.
  • Find a Local FFL: Many licensed firearms dealers accept ammunition shipments on behalf of customers. Check with dealers in your area.
  • Stay Informed: Laws change frequently. We’ll do our best to keep this page updated, but always verify current regulations in your jurisdiction.

We’re On Your Side

We didn’t create these restrictions—we fight against them. Every law-abiding American should have easy access to ammunition for self-defense, sport, and exercise of their Second Amendment rights.

Until these unconstitutional barriers are removed, we’ll continue doing everything legally possible to serve responsible gun owners nationwide.
